Blue-eyed ragdoll cat gets abandoned because his slight limp was a "hassle to deal with" for his previous owners, his new owners love him and carrying him around unconditionally

Cats are family and should be treated as such. You cannot just toss them out when they get mildly sick. 

Unfortunately, that is something that happens more often than you would think. Some people shouldn't have pets. They are not ready for it. They are not ready for the weight of it, the responsibility that they would have over another creature. If your cat limping slightly is enough reason for you to abandon them, then you are not cat owner material. 

We've seen people abandon cats because they are sick, and it's suddenly "too expensive" and "not worth it". We have seen people abandon cats because they are pregnant, because they "didn't sign up for more than one", and instead of keeping the mother and finding homes for the kittens, it's easier to just toss them all out. But we think that this story from r/cats has to be one of the worst. The limping doesn't even affect the cat's movement that much. He's still walking around, still full of energy. It's just not quite as aesthetic, is it, to have a ragdoll cat who limps? So, they just gave up on him, like he didn't matter at all, because to them, he really didn't.

    _Jaedos_ OP Unfortunately in his left paw the joint didn't develop properly and as a result he struggles to get around. The previous owners found it a bit of a hassle to deal with. It's a shame really because he's such a beautiful and gentle cat.

  • We hate how easily people give up on animals. It's like if they are not “perfect”, then they are not worth it. Really, people like that shouldn't have animals anyway. They don't deserve them. All the love and peace that this cat would have brought into their home- they would not have deserved it, and truly, we are glad that he is out of there and is with someone who will actually love him the way that he deserves.

    _Jaedos_ OP We are friends with the breeder. So when the previous owners returned him to the breeder, the breeder contacted us to see if we'd be interested in adopting him.

    ProfessionalCod2627 My ragdoll walked up to me at the dumpster and that's how she became my cat. I think she was abandoned too but she's loved and living best life now lol. Same a hole probably thought she was too loud or clingy

  • We would have given everything to have a cat like this. God, it's like people don't know the kind of privilege it is to have a cuddly cat like this one, one who actually likes being carried. Our cat, right now, might stand two seconds of being held, and then, the wiggles will begin. It is rare for her to let us hold her for more than those two seconds, and every time that it happens, it feels like meowgic.
