Friday Feral Fun Featuring 25 Wild Animal Posts of Preciousness

It's Friday night and the weekend has officially started. How can we celebrate it as the wild things do in nature?

First of all, there's tonight. Doing a nightly activity is a must, so as not to waste the best night of the week. We're going to see a live music show, staying up all night with the crowd, just like a sugar glider. They're nocturnal and live in colonies, and they have such big eyes - perfect for watching a band performing from the crowd. That's going to be one great night to open the weekend with.

After we've partied all Friday night, it's time to recover on Saturday. No one's going to wake us up early (see them dare to), and we're going to stay in bed for as long as we want. Kind of like the giant panda - they spend one half of the day eating, and the other half they spend sleeping. That's exactly how we plan to divide our Saturday into 12-hour segments. One half sleeping and recovering from Friday night, and the other half just eating, chilling, and being about.

But there's one more day to the weekend, and we plan to make the most out of it. After we've rested on Saturday and got our battery recharged, it's time to go out to nature on this lovely weather. We'll go on a lovely hike to try and meet some of these wildlife icons in real life. So many wild animals actually live so close to us, and we tend to forget we have such great neighbors. We… encroach on a lot of their territory, sadly, so the least we can do is allocate parks and living spaces where they can thrive. And luckily for us, we can blaze some trails there as well.

  • We were once the designated babysitters for a couple of ferrets that a dear friend was raising. Yes, they can be awesome pets, but they were very wild animals until recently. It was about 2,500 years ago in Europe, but that's such a short time compared to other domesticated animals. But let us tell you, these ferrets really do weasle themselves into the weirdest, narrowest, most bizarre places. So seeing one “stuck" inside a toilet paper roll doesn't faze us. This ferret will get out of there in no time.
