Viral TikTok of an Old Man Falling In Love with a Dog at an Adoption Event Is the Most Wholesome Unexpected Pairing

There's nothing more wholesome than an unexpected pairing. And one that's an old man and a shelter dog looking for a home?? Dead. Died. Over. How adorable is that? TikTok is blowing up over it. Animal adoption agency @iar_durham, an independent animal rescue in North Carolina, posted this video of the moment a dog and an old man fell in love at one of their adoption events. It's not always ideal for a young, energetic pup to be paired with a senior citizen with some mobility issues—but fate had other plans. The older man was there with someone else who was looking to adopt a dog, so he wasn't even planning on falling in love. The old man didn't end up adopting the dog, but the shelter posted that the person who he was with put in an application and is going to be considered. So maybe the two will be reunited again!

It started simply with a treat and a wagging tail. You can see the dog make eye contact with the old man before he even gets into the video's frame. The dog perks up and starts wagging her tail like crazy. Though the handler pulls her back, apprehensive to let an energetic dog approach an old man with a cane, the two instantly loved each other. 

The excited pup was surprisingly gentle with the old man, as if she knew she had to be. She approached him slowly and even laid down in front of him and start army crawling towards him ever so gently.

The the old man obviously has some mobility issues, but he still bent down to give this sweet girl some scratchies and she gave him little kisses in return. It's evident the two are loving it and the pairing is so dang cute. 

Hopefully, the rescue will post an update on the unexpected pairing and we will get to see the most wholesome reunion. Until then, this viral video will just be playing on repeat with tear stained cheeks watching.
