When waiting for food takes the worst out of you

I totally understand that hunger can be nerve-wracking, especially when you're seeing everybody else eat except you, but manners exist for a reason, and that reason is belonging. When a restaurant delays your order long enough, you start to feel that if you leave, you'd wasted all the time you already spent waiting, but at the same time, you've gotten so hungry through all that waiting that hanging on for ten more minutes feels impossible. The presence of the fiancés' family adds another layer of problems to the story, but let's be fair, he had been waiting for 40 minutes by the time he left. I'm not sure if it was the delivery or what, but something else must have failed to cause such disgust between him and the family.

  • Edit: For the people who asked why I haven't let it go or why it would bother me. It hasn't bothered me. What bothered me was that when I met some new people awhile back, they happened to be friends my ex. They told me about this story and asked if it was true. And they really tried to muddy my name.

I don’t really see the issue here; maybe if he acted really impolite about it, or left very angry without giving too many explanations, I can see why a family would interpret it as rude, but otherwise, if I were there I would be like: ‘Totally, please go, It doesn’t matter, we’ll meet you in an hour, or get takeout and meet us at x’. Maybe the family was a bit too formal in their manners? It happens; my family on my dad’s side considers many things disrespectful that I would’ve never in a million years noticed just because I come from a different background.
