The games make it even more ridiculous. One minute you’re being told not to talk, not to waste time, not to let your phone exist near the building, and the next you’re expected to bond over parking-lot volleyball, snow cones, and bean bags like it’s a summer retreat sponsored by confusion. That’s not team building. That’s corporate cosplay with a clipboard. If every fun activity has to be clocked, tracked, and later used as evidence that productivity slipped, then it’s not a perk. It’s just another flavor of surveillance with a beach ball.
What makes it especially annoying is the timing. If the place is already understaffed, overpacked, and full of brand-new hires learning on the fly, then daily moral sermons are just theater. The people doing the actual work are the ones paying for the illusion. And somehow they’re supposed to smile while being told to enjoy a bean bag toss.
