Sometimes finding inner peace starts with laughing at how impossible it is to quiet your own mind.

So, I'm what we all consider a nervous person. I'm very anxious, and it's hard for me to find peace and be chill whenever I have an important event coming up, or even something not as huge. But, essentially, things get me nervous, and sometimes it's hard for me to concentrate or eat if I'm feeling this way. And I've battled with this all my life, and I'm finally starting to fix this trait.

Although I can laugh about it and make something funny out of it, it does take a toll on my sense for moments: being nervous is the only thing that's in my head. After doing some research on what I could do to have this situation fixed, I came across meditation. And you can imagine that I laughed, because I cannot, for the life of me, connect with that silence and clear my head, which is a requirement for meditation.

However, I decided to give it a try, since, apparently, it is one of the few things that I can do that does not require money or anything outside of myself. It wasn't easy at first: it was complicated, and it was hard for me to concentrate for long periods of time. But I started slow: with 10- or 15-minute guided meditations, to slowly be able to relax the mind and get used to the feeling.

And let me tell you that I could notice a difference after a few days. Although I'm no expert and still is hard for me, I will say that on the days that I couldn't meditate, I could feel how common things were such a burden. But on those days that I could, worries I had were suddenly not as heavy, and I could see myself as a lighter person, with fewer problems and more inner peace.
