My fiancé and I got into a huge argument because of the state of our apartment. He has a habit of leaving trash on the floor instead of throwing it in the bin. I've asked him countless times to stop, but nothing changed. Eventually, I lost my temper. I also want to add that he is currently s ck with a cold, and I understand that he may have less energy than usual. However, this has been an ongoing issue even before he got s ck, and I feel like I have reached my limit with constantly having to re

Out of frustration, I blocked my credit card and texted him that it would stay blocked until he cleaned up his mess. For context, it's my card. He is only using it temporarily because of our current circumstances. This is not our normal situation at all—he normally earns a very good income and pays for his own expenses. After the argument, we both completely forgot that I had blocked the card. Later that day, he went to a convenience store and tried to pay with it. Instead of just saying the pay

displayed a message saying that the card had been reported as stolen. The cashier became suspicious, and they were considering calling the police. Thankfully, the situation was explained before the police actually got involved. I genuinely thought blocking the card would simply decline the transaction. I had no idea it could trigger a message like that. Now he's furious with me. He says the situation was incredibly humiliating and that, to him, this was even worse than being cheated on. I think

massive exaggeration. I also feel like I did tell him the card was blocked - we both just forgot about it. I know blocking the card was a petty, emotional reaction, but I was at the end of my rope after repeatedly asking him to clean up after himself.

Caspian4136 ΝΤΑ This is actually the life you want to live with this guy?? A careless slob who can't be bothered to throw trash in the actual bin and leaves it on the floor? Even my kids as toddlers knew enough to throw trash away. If you have to resort to punishment to try to teach your partner a lesson, you need to seriously reevaluate your choices in a partner.

LininOhio I work with grown adult women over 40, and at least one of them routinely washes her hands in the restroom and then drops the paper towels NEXT to the trash can rather than in it. Open can, right next to the sink. It's the business office of a health care facility, so we have a housekeeper who makes the rounds twice a day but D IN, they shouldn't have to pick up after a grown a adult. (I haven't called them out because I'm not absolutely certain which co-worker is is ... yet.)

SpiderlandsJester That man is lying to you. I block different cards CONSTANTLY and use several different terminals for card payments. The message will read either "declined transaction" or "card error." Even IF the card had been reported stolen (unless it's AMEX) it will also read ONLY those two messages. He's manipulating you because he doesn't like the consequences of his actions

Trick-Tonight2119 Why are you even arguing with him about being a slob? He's not going to change. I hope you hear me. He's not going to change. Leave him

SJoyD NTA for giving him consequences to his actions. I think that you're TA to yourself if you marry someone when you already have this level of issue. He doesn't care that he is a slob. He doesn't care that it upsets you.

Main_Cauliflower5479 S ck with a cold is no excuse to throw trash on the floor instead of in the garbage can. Locking your card was not out of line. It's locking, not blocking. And take it back from him. He can grow up and behave like an adult, which includes paying for his own sh He deserved to be humiliated. HE'S USING YOU. NTA, but you will be if you stay with this loser.

No_Transition_8293 Who doesn't throw trash in the trashcan? Toddlers. Hoping you two get some counseling to talk through how you expect your relationship to function. Or send him to timeout.

3bag Why are you with someone who you have to discipline like a child? Are you his parent? It sounds like he's treating you like 1. YTA for doing this to yourself.

partiallyextinct99 You need to block your future marriage. Trust me, he will not change with these habits and doesn't sound like u can accept the situation.

throwRA-nonSeq He won't clean his room, so you're taking away his allowance until he learns a lesson. You are literally his mother.

blinkiewich Him throwing trash on the floor is extremely humiliating, imagine if your friends came to visit. Your fiance is a child, until his behavior is up to that of a decently well behaved 10 year old you should not marry this lad.
