Stray pit bull puppy finds furever family in fateful chance encounter with fur family, but it turns out the puppy was a replacement and not an addition: ‘I can’t help but feel Hammy knew I’d need another soul to pour my love into.’

In this life some children are born to you, and some children come to you. You have to love them, care for them and cherish them just the same. But in this story we tell the tale of the canine child who came to his pawrent, not to grow her family, but to be there for her when her senior pupper passes.

It might not be the first thing you think about when you see a pit bull, but they are incredibly loving and emotionally evolved doggos. You could even say that to a certain extent it is their extreme sensitivity that has earned them their less than favorable reputation. Either way this is not a story about scary dogs, it is about how one unlikely pupper literally ran into the lives of a fur family, to be there for their pawrent when their eldest sibling would come to pass on. A fact that the pawrent only realized in retrospect and one that served to comfort her through the nights following his passing.

And as far fetched as it might seem to buy into this kind of mumbo jumbo, we do think that there is something to this. We come across stories similar to this one far more often than you might think. You might argue that it is the subconscious of the person that made things happen, and that they are just missing their dog and so project. But we believe that we all deserve to see this world in the best light we possibly can. So if it makes you happy, if it makes your heart warm to believe that doggos can reach out to you from the beyond. Then do it.

  • Ok so just for a little context as our poster did not quite bridge the gap. The story goes that no owner was found and this woman ended up falling for darling Orla Mae and decided to try her luck with the admins of her apartment complex to see if they would allow her to have 1 pup over the stated limit in her home. And as you can see it went great! Our pupper has a home! But as you know, there are plenty of rocky waters still to ride through in this tale.

And in the sense that dogs are so much more sentient and conscious than we are able to perceive, it could stand to reason that Hammy managed to send a signal to this puppy, inviting her into their fur family to take his place once he passes on. A heartbreaking thing to realize might be true, but also a deeply comforting fact. And with the amount of stories just like this one, there is a good chance there is some sort of legitimacy to this.
