Nosy Cats Clawing Their Way Through the Blinds to Brighten Your Day With Feline Foolery

Cats love looking out the window, and if a set of blinds happens to stand between them and the neighborhood drama, those blinds never stood a chance.

A window is basically feline television. Birds are flying around, squirrels are making questionable choices, neighbors are walking dogs, and random leaves keep blowing past. There's an entire world of entertainment happening outside, and your cat has important surveillance duties to perform. Expecting them to wait patiently while you open the blinds is asking far too much.

Instead, cats prefer renovations.

One paw slips between two slats. Then comes the head. Maybe the opening needs to be a little wider, so another paw gets involved. Before long, one perfectly normal set of blinds has a cat-sized viewing window permanently installed in the middle. Congratulations on the new home improvement! Your security guard can now monitor the premises without obstruction.

Hoomans might see bent blinds, snapped pieces, and another household item that needs replacing. Cats see improved visibility. Who designed these things without considering feline access in the first place? If the blinds keep falling back into position, they clearly need further modification.

There's also no point replacing them and expecting different results. Your cat remembers exactly where their favorite lookout spot is, and some fresh blinds aren't going to interfere with the morning bird report. Those new slats could be destroyed before you've even thrown away the packaging.

At some point, cat pawrents simply accept that pristine blinds and curious felines may never coexist peacefully. Leave a section raised, surrender the windowsill, and save yourself the repair bill.

The neighborhood isn't going to watch itself, and your feline security guard needs an unobstructed view.

This cat found just enough space between the blinds to squeeze their whole body in, and that’s really all they needed. Never mind that there’s an entire window covered in perfectly good blinds. One tiny opening exists, so naturally the cat must occupy it. It may not look particularly comfortable, but comfort is clearly less important than getting the best possible view outside. If the body fits, the kitty sits, especially when there’s important neighborhood business to keep an eye on.

This kitty was kind enough to only claw away one little section of the blinds, just enough to fit their head through and get a proper look outside. They could have destroyed the whole thing, but clearly some feline restraint was involved here. All they needed was a small viewing window to keep tabs on the birds, squirrels, and whatever else was happening outside. The rest of the blinds can stay intact, at least until kitty decides a wider view is necessary.

Those blinds are absolutely done for. There’s no bending them back into place or pretending nobody notices the giant cat-sized gaps anymore. Kitty wanted a clear view outside and kept going until nothing was blocking it. Birds need watching, squirrels need supervising, and the neighborhood drama waits for no feline. The blinds may look like they’ve been through a battle, but the cat can finally sit at the window without anything getting in the way. Mission accomplished.
