By the time the tickets have been used, the game is over, and the people who accepted the offer have lost their chance to decide whether they wanted to spend that much, you can't demand payment. 

We're talking about $300 tickets. A couple thought their neighbors were doing something generous. The user Twitch-Weasel-51 posted the drama on Reddit, explaining that the neighbors had season tickets for their local NFL team and couldn't attend the game, so they offered the seats to the couple because they didn't want the tickets to go to waste. The husband had never attended a game, which made the invitation appealing even though neither of them was so into football. They wouldn't normally buy tickets themselves, so they thought it was a chance to experience something new. They had to rearrange their day since they already had plans, but they thought it was worth it, so the couple finally accepted the tickets.

That rearranging already cost them money. They lost about $100 after cancelling activities they paid for in advance. Add $125 more for parking, an expensive surprise they attributed to the late notice and their unfamiliarity with attending football games. So, before any ticket payment entered the conversation, they had already spent roughly $225 for the occasion.

After the game, the wife sent a nice text thanking the neighbors for thinking of them and sharing the tickets. To their surprise, the neighbors didn't just say "you're welcome." They demanded that the couple owed them $300 for the tickets. But they had never mentioned expecting payment. The price belonged in the original offer. That way, the couple could have made an informed decision and kept their existing plans. Instead, their thank-you text became an uncomfortable situation about a price they never agreed on.
