Woman worries her cat won't accept his new kitten sister until she catches them cuddling in the cutest way

Getting a second cat is always a bit of a gamble. You hope your resident kitty will be thrilled to have a new friend, but there's also the possibility they'll spend the next six months hissing at each other from opposite ends of the couch. Some cats love having company, while others seem purrsonally offended that you've brought another animal into their home without consulting them first.

When two cats really hit it off, though, it's hard to beat watching their friendship develop. One day they're cautiously sniffing each other, and a few weeks later, they're grooming each other's faces and refusing to sleep separately. You'll buy them two perfectly good cat beds, only to find both cats squeezed into the same one. Apparently, having a best friend means never having to respect personal space again.

Kittens tend to take this arrangement particularly seriously. They're still figuring out how the world works, and having an older cat around gives them someone to follow, wrestle with, and generally annoy. The older cat might not have signed up for babysitting duties, but that doesn't stop the little one from treating them like a combination of parent, playmate, and climbing equipment.

That's exactly the situation Willie Nelson has found himself in since his human brought home a tiny kitten named Nene Leakes.

Nene arrived in August, when she was reportedly smaller than a baked potato. Her human worried about how Willie would handle having a baby sister. Would he get jealous? Would he miss being the only cat? Would the two of them even get along?

A recent update suggests that Willie has adjusted just fine, although he's apparently lost the right to nap alone.

Nene has taken to sleeping directly on top of her big brother, despite having plenty of other places to curl up. Sometimes she sprawls across him like a blanket, and sometimes Willie rests his chin on her. Their human describes them as taking turns being the furniture, which seems like a pretty accurate assessment of the situation.

We have to give Willie credit for his patience. Kittens aren't exactly known for choosing convenient places to sleep, and Nene seems determined to make herself comfortable wherever her brother happens to be lying.

It's especially sweet that she feels so comfortable around him. She's gone from being a tiny newcomer to having a built-in best friend who doesn't seem to mind being used as a mattress.

Their human may be responsible for the food and cleaning, but Willie and Nene have clearly decided they've got everything else covered.

Congratulations, you now have two furry overlords running your household! Willie may have been in charge before, but Nene has clearly worked her way into a management position already. We hope you're prepared for twice the demands, twice the judgmental stares, and twice the amount of cat hair on everything you own. At least your two little bosses seem to get along!

Well, we think it's safe to say these two have officially bonded! Any worries about Willie accepting his new little sister can be put to rest because they're clearly besties now. Nene seems to adore her big brother, and Willie is more than happy to let her cuddle up with him. We love seeing cats become this close, especially when they haven't known each other for very long!

We're going to need monthly photo updates of these two, please! Nene might be tiny enough to comfortably sleep on Willie now, but what happens when she's all grown up? Will she still insist on using her big brother as a mattress? Will Willie continue putting up with it? We have so many questions, and we're already invested in watching this adorable little friendship grow over the next few months!
