We've been waiting for Halloween all year round, and now it's almost here! Ready for the spookiest night of all?

Is it just me, or does October feel like the longest month when you're waiting for Halloween? I have to confess, I've been waiting for this time of year since late September. As soon as October 1st hit my calendar, I was already ready for candy, home decor, and costume ideas. I get so excited whenever I see grocery stores stocking up on all that candy… I feel like a child again, and honestly, that's what Halloween is all about. Feeling like a kid and getting excited about dressing up and eating candy is a nice little break from adult reality, and I very much appreciate it.

That's why time seems to be slowing down when we're reaching the spookiest day. But, luckily for us, the day still has 24 hours, so it's just the excitement in our heads that makes us feel that time isn't really moving. Needless to say, we're a week out of Halloween, and the vibes are getting scarier. In fact, I see people trying on costumes, buying some home decorations, and debating whether to give trick-or-treaters candy or prepare a healthy snack. Can you guess my answer? I think it's pretty obvious. Imagine ringing the doorbell and having the family give you apples and carrot sticks… please, just don't.

What's your favourite part of Halloween? Is it the candy and dressing up, or something else? For me, it's going for a walk in my neighborhood just to appreciate the decorations all of my neighbors put up this year. Do you know what I love to do? I usually take pictures of the same 10 houses, and then save them on my computer. Every year, just before Halloween, I compare them and see which year was the best. I'm a pretty good judge of home decor, and I really enjoy it when my neighbors want to do something even better and more extravagant each year. Some of them start putting things up in the middle of September, no matter how hot it can be outside. They just go all in, and I'm here for it!

I've been talking to my friends, and this year we're not sure what we'll do after trick-or-treating. Um, yes, I'm going trick-or-treating. No, I don't care; I'm old, and this is an activity for little kids! Do you think I'm going to miss out on free candy? But I get your point, and it's kind of weird for a homeowner to have to give out candy to this grown woman. So, I thought of a plan that has worked before. I usually chaperone some kids that want to go, but their parents aren't really into it and don't have the time. I not only get paid, but I also get to dress up (because the kids love it), and all my neighbors think I'm a nice, caring adult helping those kids, but in reality, I just want some candy. And it works wonders! I even have some candy saved up from last year… I should probably get rid of that…
