Abandoned Puppy with Scurvy Gets Rescued in the Mountains, TikToker is Now Helping Raise Veterinary Funds

TikToker Deanna aka @thtmrst got a call from a friend one day about an abandoned puppy she may have spotted in the park. Deanna went straight to rescue mode and found a small little brown and white puppy curled up in the snow under a tree. Though the dog allowed her to approach her, she did end up with a bite on the hand.

The puppy, however, was still saved and Deanna realized that something was very wrong with pup's front legs. They seemed to have an extreme bow to them making it almost impossible for the little gal to walk. Deanna was able to rescue her and send her off to a rescue in St. George, Utah. She named the baby Shay after the canyon she was found it which was Canyon de Chelly National Monument park in Arizona.

Scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency and is different in dogs than it is in humans, because usually dogs can create their own vitamin C—so if they have scurvy, it's usually due to some other underlying issue or condition. Though Shay is doing much better already, she is currently under a rigorous treatment. This doesn't come cheap, and Deanna posted a TikTok pointing everyone in the direction of where to donate to help little Shay.

Now, Deanna's videos of Shay are getting flooded with comments about people donating and/or wanting to adopt the sweet little baby. Rescues usually wait until the saved dog has a clean bill of health before releasing them for potential adoptions. Thankfully, in Shay's case, many commenters seemed determined about adopting Shay and promise to keep an eye on the rescue's website so they can adopt the second they she is available.

Update 1: Named ‘Shay’ After the Canyon She was Found In

Update 2: Now in a Utah Rescue/ Got Diagnosed with Scurvy

Update 3: Where to Donate

Shay isn't the first pup that Deanna has rescued, her TikTok has many videos of dogs she's saved. Shay was one of the luckier ones who was able to get accepted by a rescue. Many of the dogs she posts about are still looking for a forever and/or temporary home.
