The pour baby was afraid to even approach them at first, but since they were able to rescue her, the dog is living her best tripod life.
One time I was fostering the sweetest three-legged dog who was inspirational and how happy he lived his life. Seeing this dog unfazed by missing a leg made the issues I was stressing over in life seem so insignificant. However, sometimes when I would this dog around NYC, a stranger every now and then would berate me saying “oh that pour dog only has three legs, how could you let it live a life like that?” etc.
It's amazing to me how some people can't see the resilience of a dog. Tripod dogs can run just as fast, play just as hard, and be just as happy as any normal dog with four legs. TikTokers @burkerescues is showing the world just that with her rescue video of a two-year-old pup.
They found this sweet dog on the side of the road, limping, during a harsh winter storm. The baby was very apprehensive of them at first and was refusing to approach them. They were able to coerce her to come near them eventually by giving her some food. But the day was turning to night and the winter storm was picking up; they needed things to move along faster.
The wife decided to just try to scoop her up. She slowly approached the dog and was able to pet her. After a short time, she was able to pick her up and put the injured and scared baby into her car. The storm had iced over the roads too badly to go to the vet that day, but it was evident this dog was very injured. The next morning the woke up bright and early to go to the vet.
The dog had a very serious break in the leg—like, that bone was sticking out. Her leg was 3x the size of her other leg and the best option was amputation. This news is one of the worst to receive as a dog owner. However, tripod dogs can still live just as fulfilling lives as four legged dogs. In fact, in the wild, dogs who injury their legs too badly will try to gnaw it off themselves so they can continue on living their life without that source of pain.
Now that this pup has had the surgery, she's finally wagging her tail and exploring her world with no fears. In the TikToks, it's the first time that you see this dog looking like she is ready to take on the world. In the initial videos she always looked afraid and in pain, but now, she walks around looking majestic and happy. She's even playing with some chickens and kitten.
