The comment section

Just as baffled as OP that their boss would admit to wage theft in writing, many redditors in the comment section were confident that OP had a good legal case against their former employer.

“They booted me from the system within five minutes of me resigning.” OP explained.

“Sounds like you should sue them for wage theft.” Suggested u/DoubleDixon. “This'll probably start a class action suit against them for wage theft.”

“He confesses, in writing, out of his own volition, that the company commits wage theft.” Added u/TalkingBackAgain. “There will be some heated conversations in the head office about that one.”

“Did they just email you a confession of grand wage theft against the bulk of their employees?” Asked u/Emotional-Ebb8321.

“Kinda, yup.” OP replied.

“Hello, Labor Department! What a gift!” Said u/carmelfan.

Though many encouraged OP to call the Department of Labor, some redditors were a bit skeptical. “Y’all realize that DOL doesn’t really do much of anything and make you go through bureaucratic peons to ward you away and make you doubt yourself and confuse the law. They’re not gonna just instantly go to bat for you and threaten legal action. And most ppl don’t have the money or the time to hire a lawyer.” Said u/jwalk2925

OP updates the thread

After processing their situation a bit and reading the flood of comments from redditors urging OP to do something with their boss' incriminating email, OP updated the thread with details about their call with the Department of Labor. Sadly, they didn't seem very helpful.

We're rooting for you, OP.
