Adorable Small Parrot Who had to Get Both of His Feet Amputated is Now Thriving on TikTok

Having pet birds are not as easy as some like to think it is. You don't simply keep them in a cage for aesthetics or never show them some love. Birds are complex creatures that need to be thoroughly researched before becoming a parent of one. Especially for exotic birds who will need a little extra work. Plus, parrots and other birds those sizes tend to live very long years, often times out living their owners. So it's important to take becoming a bird parent very seriously. 

Beedo is a parrot that came from neglect. The pour little guy's first family left him outside in the cold where his feet eventually froze to his perch. The little guy was at first set to be euthanized, but the vet who was assigned that decided differently. He saw that Beedo had a strong will to live and stole the doctor's heart. So instead of euthanizing the sweet little guy, he had to amputate both of his feet. Since then he has been adopted by a well-versed bird owner and now has a small flock and family of his own. He doesn't need feet to live his best life—he's already going viral on TikTok and inspiring many!

Beedo's Story

When it comes to caring for Beedo, he really doesn't need anything that much different than what the rest of his two-footed flock gets. His perches need to be flat, since he has no claws to grab poles with. He does need to get his nubs checked often to make sure he isn't nipping at them or that their healing incorrectly. And before he was adopted he had fallen into a deep depression (yes, birds can get depressed). However, since finding his new family and getting the proper love and care he needs, he seems to be flourishing!
