So i get the courtesy notice in the mail a week later and this is not the funny part, it's a 1000 dollar fine and 6 months in jail and it's a misdemeanor. Yup, seriously. $Text - I explained what happened, admitted to doing it, and then I explained I'm an RN and this might cause me to lose my license due to it being a misdemeanor and not an infraction. He apologized for this, actually apologized, but said that the police officer took it out of context the law was for people throwing lit cigarette butts out of car windows in forests and starting fires, not for dropping them in urban parking lots and then stepping on them and littering.$

$Text - He apologized again and back up to speed, and told me that it doesnt differentiate legally between forests or parking lots if the officer actually writes it up as he did and I admitted to doing it. I was dieing, so worried about my nursimg licence. He then said the best he could do was vacate the one charge which was a misdemeanor if I'd accept guilt on littering which is an infraction, but the best he could knock the fine down to because of the way the ticket was written was 452 dollars$
