This right here is the selfie that got the internet into a tizzy this weekend. The young girl in question had to defend herself against all kinds of harassment (unsurprisingly) after the picture went viral. According to her, she had studied the Nazi concentration camp with her father before his passing, and this was (by her logic) her way of honoring that time together. The whole incident calls to the front the politics of selfies and whether or not self-photography has the power to be an act of identity creation - and not just vanity. These are the things we should be talking about, but then you see her reaction to the controversy...
Aaaaaaand now I want to crawl into bed and just cry for the youth for a couple days.
