  Tumbleweeds grow during the year with a root system that runs 6 feet deep into the ground. It is also super tolerant to droughts, though in the fall, they naturally will break off, but on purpose. During the weeds tumbling across the landscape, it can disperse up to 250,000 seeds.

This specific species is so virulent and fast-spreading, that it is taking over and causing other species of tumbleweeds to disappear as it spreads across more and more of the landscape.
