Somewhere on the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, there may be a crashed UFO with aliens inside waiting for rescuers. At least, that's what the people on the Reddit thread r/aliens think. When u/Hey-man-Shabozi posted a video to Reddit with the caption "What's over 200ft long, casts a shadow of 50ft, and appears to have crashed on an Arctic [SIC] island, moving so fast that it slid over 3,000ft?", the response was quick and encouraging. Fellow Reddit users agreed that the only plausible answer could be one thing: aliens.

The mysterious object is about 810 miles from The Falklands (which is reassuring - at least the aliens will be far from humanity if they do not come in peace). Unfortunately, because the island is so isolated from humans, it is unlikely that someone would be willing to travel there to inspect the phenomena. For now, all the believers have is a Google Earth image.

The current theory is that the UFO crashed into a nearby mountain and skidded to a halt. However, experts like Richard Waller, a senior lecturer in physical geography at Keele University in the United Kingdom, told the Daily Mail that the photo is not depicting a UFO crash, but rather a large block of ice that rolled further than the other hunks of ice after an avalanche happened. And to the casual observer, this theory makes sense.

BUT. We don't know for sure whether this is an innocent block of ice or an innocent alien. Or a malicious one for that matter. My advice? Get your doomsday kit ready, just in case it is an alien. And if it's ice, at least we'll be prepared for the next UFO crash landing when it happens (again).
