Stay safe in the storm. I hope you don't lose power at any point. I'd be more inclined to do special baking for Becky but I've yet to see anything she eats where she acts like she savors any of it. It's just gone...in seconds...rarely with much chewing. She chews carrots and apples but little else. I have seen (and even saved) some doggie treat recipes but I've never pulled the trigger. There was no Downton Abbey yesterday for me. I did all my refinement on Monday. Yesterday was devoted to world domination (computer game) during the day and again world domination (Warriors) in the evening. It's tough when the timing of storms prevent you from getting normal maintenance stuff done. I do enjoy it when the yard looks neat and tidy. I'll do that tomorrow morning before the goggie guests arrive so I can put it out of my mind for ten days. It's going to be all goggie, all the time starting tomorrow night. I hope your gardener is able to show your yard some love soon.

I don't know that it's wise to play with splort levels that high. Some people have medical conditions. I hope you have warnings posted. I can see your point about being on the alert for unscrupulous repairmen trying to take advantage. It's a shortsighted way for them to do business but there are an awful lot that do. I don't know that Becky has a favorite treat. She has her top ten and her favorite is the next one....now preferably. She definitely loves peanut butter though. It's about the only thing I allow us both to eat. I typically draw a hard line between people food and goggie food. She does get carrots and loves those but I don't consider that my food. When I peel apples for baking projects she gets peels and a few slices of apple. She loves apples too. Apples and carrots are about the only thing she truly chews. She gets giblets when I roast whole chickens. I wish there was a way I could keep peanut butter in my pockets for her. When I get down to the end of a jar of peanut butter I scrape it out with a spatula and that's when Becky gets her share. I'm only in season two of Downton but I'm really enjoying it. I can definitely appreciate how you'd be looking forward to a full season binge this weekend. I think I watched four episodes yesterday. Good stuff! Stay safe and bonks to the kittehs.

Oh oh...kittens in da house! Splort cleanup on aisle three...and four...and OMG!!! It will be fun coaxing the shy ones in the coming weeks. AC problems and Texas Summer are a bad combination. I hope yu get that sorted out without too much trouble (or expense). Becky and I had a fun afternoon. I grabbed a ball and a handful of treats and laid down on the back lawn. It's amazing how much attention I got from Miss Becky. We played ball for a while and she had total target lock on that ball. I finally slipped it into my pocket and she immediately turned her gaze upon my other hand...the one with the treats. She's a very intense and goal oriented girl. She never barks and she's calm about it but she just stares at the treats willing them out of my hand and into her mouth.

They definitely need to do something about the way they handle seeding for the playoffs. There's no way that the Clippers and Spurs should have met in the first round. It was a hell of a series though. That's too bad about your neighbors moving. Change is difficult. Let's hope your new neighbors work out great. Did you find anything worthwhile in your food shows today? Four consecutive weekends with company is a lot...even with good friends. I completely understand your appreciation for routine and privacy. For me it's solitude as well. I'm so used to living alone that I really appreciate the quiet. As much as I love my parents and enjoy spending time with them, the constant chatter (and repeated chatter due to their hearing problems) drives me a bit batty sometimes. It's like Mom is uncomfortable with quiet and seeks to fill it up with lots of words. I keep reminding myself that the day will come when I miss that but... I see Austin featured from time to time on cooking and travel shows and it does look like a fun place. We'll root for an Austin home for your friend. It's close enough to visit but not so close as to encourage dropping by. That's just about perfect.

Sixty years is an impressive accomplishment as well. I'm afraid that's only going to get rarer and rarer in the coming years. There's not much on our radar this weekend. With it getting warmer I've started doubling the dawn walk and skipping the mid-morning walk. That means a serious case of sloth usually kicks in around 7:30am. I'm weird. The big event this weekend will be the Warriors game tomorrow night. I'm grateful that the Clippers took out the Spurs early. We've had a very tough time against them over the years. I think it's been something like 17 years since we've beaten San Antonio on the road. What about you...do you have anything fun lined up? Have you been able to do any more riding?

Droughts can certainly make people rethink their landscaping and using native species are better at surviving local conditions. your plans are smart. I've not yet let my front lawn go brown but it gets just enough to stay alive. I'm letting the back lawn go brown. I was already well below the average per person water usage before I made that call. Good on you friends to find good uses for shower water. I've not done that with showers though mine are 90 second affairs. I do catch the water in the kitchen when I'm trying to get hot water. That keeps my roses going. Mom has her yes firmly set on 67 years. If they hit that mark they'll have beaten the longest of any marriages in their families. I respect that but I'm more concerned about quality rather than quantity of years.

I'm glad to hear that you're on the other side of the drought. I look forward to that day. There are no real forced restrictions other than the obvious ones. There have been lots of calls for voluntary cutbacks...mostly to residential with a lesser emphasis on agriculture. Eighty percent of our usage is agriculture. Residential cutbacks of 25% (what's asked for) won't put a dent in our problems. I've been cutting way back for more than two years. I've got an idiot neighbor that's had a crap yard for years that decided a month ago that he needs to put sod in the front and back yards. I just don't get it. I'm glad to hear that the adoptions are going well. That's important work. I hope the RL stuff you've been busy with haven't been too taxing. The family is good. We had a big party for the folks' 65th anniversary over the weekend. I can't even imagine that.

Yay! There you are! I've been super busy (dental stuff and garden), but I've missed seeing you...how are you? How's the weather? We're solidly into spring now (which is always what we think right before it snows.) Hope you are well...
