I just did quick Google search on "no kill cat rescue shelter grants" and got this: http://www.animalsheltering.org/how-we-help/strengthen-your-shelter/financial-assistance/grant_listings.html Before anything of that nature, need to get some the physical shelter issues cleaned up. ED BD again - really need some better practices, especially in regards to the laundry. Wore gloves but felt I should have had a mask on :) Yay on the adoptions! Our Sat event resulted in 6 - and 3 intakes - 3 in a carrier just left on the doorstep to be found when they came in Sun am :( How cool - you had mentioned he migh be adopting - I hope he and one of the kittehs that meets his needs bond.

Oh we love working at the shelter! ED me and Becky's Dad for our first two days there. Once we help with a the initial reorganzation, I think we will settle down to 2 full days a week. Our skills are best used for heavy labor and handyman (Bryan - they all love him aleady :) and cleaning and reorganizing various aspects of their processes (me). They told us they are very open to new ideas. A lot of the older women love the outreach adoption stuff but physically hard for them to do some of the cleaning. I don't know much about their accounting, donations, costs and may not want to get involved in a bunch of administrtive stuff having done that all career. But I do have some ideas about possible grant request writing in the future; wrote complicated stuff my whole career. I found one web site already that hands out grants to shlelters. They have a pretty good web site (a guy who lives in Seattle actually maintains that) but would like to see them have a Newsletter with pics of adoptable cats every month that can be emailed to supporters. They shelter around 100 cats which is a lot but they do have the space but needs to be better organized. Don't know yet how they are getting volunteers but would like to see more outreach in that area as they do not have enough. But that is in the future. Want to help them get their facility physically reorganized and separation of cats with special needs and sanitation and more sanitation :) They have a couple of very dedicated people who are there almost every day. One of whom worked as a vet tech for many years and kind of takes the lead. The actual owner of the house and Shelter Diretor is hardly ever there as she has a full time job They have a large two story house for the main shelter and an "annex" across from it that looks to maybe have been a mother-in-law house. Sounds like your organization is moving in new directions also. No kill is the Holy Grail for sure.

The local Petsmart is really supportive of all the local rescue org and every Sat they elt diferent orgs come in. They clear out the big cental aisle hey clear out to make room for the cats and cages, etc. How are your adoptions going?

Hi long time no chat. Headng out to check out a no kill cat rescue organization in Bend that we hope to volunteer for We just found out about it when they accepted 30 cats from animal rescue found abandoned in two different nearby towns. Was on the local news and newspaper. From the web site it looks good. I hope this works out, we're both ready to devote some time to volunteering now that our house is pretty much in order. Will let you know how it goes.

Happily, I'm not very allergic to juniper pollen. The season lasts about a month...every time I brush a juniper branch (there are some around my house) a cloud of golden powder flies out. My next-door-neighbor is so allergic his eyes nearly swell shut. He always drives to California to visit friends at this time.//Didn't know you had some feral kittehs! Good for you. They are hard to make friends with.//Going for a walk in a few minutes! I got a message from Fitbit (it records your numbers every day) saying that I had walked the length of the London Underground. Wow! (Of course, that's spread out over a number of months.) By the time I'm 90 I may get to ABQ...

Oh noze! We have "juniper fever" here...and it's getting started. John and I were doing our daily reading-out-loud and he kept sneezing.//I AM walking! The fitbit makes me obsess about collecting steps...I think I weirded out the people in line at Whole Foods by walking in place while I waited...//Sun back and temps in the 50s here.//How about you? No walking because of the cedar?
