OK, so this isn't a drill. This isn't a fan animation or a weird comic con sketch. This is real, and it's happening: Batman and Deadpool are teaming up in an official Marvel/DC crossover event. Somewhere in a parallel universe, a comic shop just exploded from pure hype.
This is the first major crossover between the Big Two in over 20 years, and they picked the perfect chaos duo: the world's broodiest detective and Marvel's most unhinged mouthpiece. It's Batarangs meets banter. Brooding meets bloodbath. Gotham meets whatever the hell Wade calls home.
Marvel's Zeb Wells is writing the Deadpool/Batman one-shot, with legendary artist Greg Capullo handling the visuals. Yes, the same Capullo who spent over a decade drawing Batman and has X-Force history with Deadpool. Deadpool lands in Gotham on a mission that immediately puts him on Batman's hit list, and yes, Joker's involved too, because of course he is.
Not to be outdone, DC's side of the story comes from none other than Grant Morrison, with art by Dan Mora, reuniting the brilliant minds behind Klaus. Their Batman/Deadpool one-shot drops in November, and yes, it promises "4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter." (Literal or metaphorical? Who cares. I'm in.)
And in true Deadpool fashion, it's all chaos on purpose. Wells said it best: "In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine." That alone is worth the price of admission.
There will also be "backup adventures" featuring other Marvel/DC pairings, but details are still under wraps. The crossover begins September 17, and the editors have already confirmed this is not a one-off. More Marvel/DC mashups are coming in 2026.
Let's be honest: this is kind of genius. Batman is silent, calculated, and allergic to nonsense. Deadpool is a basically a Talking katana with no attention span. Together, they're going to be hilarious. And maybe a little bit dangerous. This crossover could either be a masterpiece or a glorious mess - and either way, it's going to be a blast to watch unfold.
As someone who owns every panel of JLA/Avengers and still re-reads Spider-Man vs. Superman for fun, this kind of event is comic book royalty. So whether you're Team Gotham, Team Chimichanga, or just here for the chaos, this is the crossover of the year.
Let's get weird.
