LGBTQIA+ TikTokers Can't Tell If This Restaurant's Pride Specials Menu is Offensive or Hilarious

The things companies do for the LGBTQIA+ community during pride month has certainly gotten out of hand. It's basically a running joke between everybody at this point. It's mostly hilarious because it's such blatant performative “allyship” that it's just ridiculous. Companies like Target, Doritos, Budweiser, hell, even Trump's campaign do the dumbest things to “celebrate” pride during the month of June, but the second it's over, they're back to doing nothing for the community. I mean, Trump??? You've got to be kidding me…

But when a small business tries to be supportive, it hits a little differently. These are people who are probably really trying to be open-minded and show their support the best way they can. It may come off a little contrived and naive, but can you really get mad at them? At least they're trying!

Recently, TikToker @marcusl0ve posted a pride menu they came across in their small Midwestern town. The way this small business worded their pride specials was just punch to the guy something—hilarious? Ignorant?? It's difficult to tell. The shrimp poppers made a poppers reference; the burger was called the “bisexual burger," and there was the “Trans-wich" fried chicken sandwich and I'm not even sure what to say about that.

Poppers: “A pride must have poppers! And what goes best with poppers? Boom boom… Sauce!”

Rainbow Flatbread: “We had to do something rainbow… right?”

Bisexual Burger: “Can't decide between the meat or the breast? Well, then why choose?"

Trans-Wich: “One day a meat patty wanted to be friend chicken, and we support that decision!”

Naan-Binary Wrap: “Naan… You get it? Non-binary or naaaaaaaaannnn-binary… Word play!”

Many in the comments are not computing. It's funny but also like, “wait… what??” The TikToker assured everyone that they know the person who made the menu at that they are actually gay themselves. “He just has a niche sense of humor, that caught me a bit off guard,” they explain. Many reviewers are feeling the same way. Is this funny or is this not okay?

“I can’t tell if they’re trying and don’t know any better or just really mean,” one viewer commented. “I’m sorry but all of this is overwhelmingly funny,” another said. “we should remember these are people trying to understand and include us when others just make their logo rainbow. it’s corny but it’s something,” someone else added.

“I almost shit myself when I saw this”
