Real Estate Boss Provokes Debate For Rating Employees' Outfits As They Arrive To Work

Whether you're dolling up for a smart casual coffee date or trying to get into the Berghain, a dress code is a very subjective thing. While not all of us put the most thought into the way we cover up our shameful, lumpy, bald mole bodies, there are a lot of places out there that carry certain rules on how we should dress to access them. It's pretty likely that you're not getting into a swanky bar wearing flipflops, for example, and countless high schools have gotten into hot water for deciding the suitability of female students' clothing.

However, traditionally speaking one of the most contentious places for dress codes has been the workplace. There are plenty of professions that still expect or even need their workers to dress in a certain way, although this isn't the case for everybody. Real estate is one of those industries where the rules can be pretty lax, but at first glance that wouldn't be the case for Aliona Chebac's workplace. She raised eyebrows on TikTok recently for posting a video in which her boss rated the outfits of his mostly women employees; as if to make things worse, the caption even asked viewers to guess which one of these he may be dating.

Some commenting ignored the icky premise altogether, and were all to happy to play along with the ratings game. Many disputed the numbers he had given.

Others still complained of the apparent lack of professionalism seen in the office wear that many in the video had chosen. Professionalism clearly can't come in different forms for these people.

“The first one is the nicest, however none are appropriate for work except the guy”, said @pg8797.

On top of that, there were a few viewers out there who questioned the appropriacy of the whole thing. For @flow3rpower810, the gimmick “seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen”, and they weren't alone. Nonetheless, Aliona maintained that the video had been organized in good faith, and with full consent of everyone involved.

Although this video may have been little more than a joke for its participants, there's no denying it comes across as a little strange to be treating a real estate office like a Miss America pageant. Don't they all have prospective tenants to be swindling?
