Whether you're being contacted by a scammer or someone who received a fake number at a bar, wrong-number texts are often hilariously happy accidents. I've been known to text them back, trying to gauge whether it's a bad person trying to steal your information or someone making a well-intentioned mistake. With the increase in bots that text you, "Hey, I met you at the bar last night," accompanied by a sexy selfie, it's easy to tell that 99% of all "wrong number" texts in the 2020s are from actual bots. I miss the good old days when you could give wrong numbers the benefit of the doubt and string them along a bit in the meantime. While some people may get nasty when they get a text from the wrong number, others offer up a lot of opportunities for trolling. These erroneous communiques fall into everyone one of those categories.
