    Heroic man saves his puppy from jaws of an alligator

    Richard Wilbanks, a 74-year-old man from Florida had his instinct take over when his 3-month-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Gunner, was grabbed from an alligator and dragged under the water. The scary moment was caught on film, and though it is hard to watch, it ends as well as it possibly could have - with the doggo saved.

    A tiny baby bird rescued by police officers

    The Dedham Police Dept. tweeted about a tiny Mourning Dove chick that they rescued. Every little creature who needs help needs to be helped, no matter how small. They do warn in their tweet that "If not injured, leave [the baby bird] where you found it so its mom can find it and bring it back to the nest!"

    Stray cat brings her kittens to their human savior

    Earlier in the summer, a fluffy cat appeared in Lisianne's garden in Canada. It looked lonely and hungry, so Lisianne put out some water and food for it. That was the start of the most wholesome friendship. The cat, after giving birth outside, continued coming back to eat at Lisianne's, and soon, the gorgeous black cat brought her tiny kittens to Lisianne's porch, one by one, setting up a nest near the woman's house where she and her babies will be safe, and she really did end up saving the kittens.

    World's loneliest elephant rescued from its loneliness by Cher

    One of the stranger rescue stories we have encountered this month but just as heartwarming and wholesome. Cher, the famous singer, has decided to give a proper home to Kaavan the elephant who has been "languishing in poor conditions in Marghazar Zoo in Islamabad since 1985". He had a partner elephant for over 20 years, from 1990 until 2012, but she has since passed, and he has been alone. 

    Cher, through her charity, has helped the lonely elephant move to "an animal sanctuary in Cambodia, where he will be able to socialize with other elephants," and it's such a positive story, it's made our heart absolutely surge.

    Kitten found frozen to truck tire adopted by man who saved it

    Found in below freezing temperatures last month, Xerxes the kitten has officially been adopted by the good man who saved her! She was only five-weeks-old then, hanging off the side of one of the truck tires, with her tail and paws completely frozen to the metal surface, trapping her.

    Dog with broken leg rescued by Good Samaritan

    Sometimes, it's not some famous person or organization who save animals in need. It could be a regular person just like any of us. This is one of those stories. "A person was advertising Bishon Frise Dumpling while her back leg was broken 'in half' with bones visible" on social media, but a Good Samaritan who noticed the dog online had arranged a meeting to save the canine. Dumpling was rushed to BC SPCA staff by the hero who rescued it and has thankfully gotten the help it needed there.

    Tiny owl rescued from Christmas tree is set free

    A story truly fitting the Christmas cheer. A tiny little owl was found inside of a Christmas tree. Yup. Inside of the iconic Rockefeller Christmas tree, workers discovered the tiny owl "clinging for its life to the 75-foot-tall Norway spruce". After surviving a 200 mile journey from Oneonta to Manhattan, the owl was found as the crews that were about to erect the tree were unwrapping it. the little owl was saved, taken care of, and eventually, released back into the wild where it should be.

    Dumped dogs rescued by animal control

    The Muncie Animal Shelter had done an amazing job, rescuing multiple dogs who were dumped in a field in northwestern Delaware. The dogs, who were spotted running in a field, got scared and stuck in drainage pipe, after which they were thankfully rescued.

    Chameleon rescued from power line

    A Panther Tamatave chameleon named Meraxes had been missing from his home for almost five months when one day, a woman spotted it stuck in a bundle of power lines. She called the Peninsula Humane Society who not only saved the little guy but immediately recognized him and returned him back to his owner.

    Cat with gunshot wound gone through surgery and is 'doing amazing'

    Gulliver, the one-year-old orange tabby cat, was found about three weeks ago with a gunshot wound to his face. The person who found the cat immediately took it to the local clinic from which he was moved to the Ottawa Humane Society. After being in critical condition, the cat, getting the care it needed, is "doing amazing"!

    One-eyed eastern red screech owl rescued from the road

    A heroic couple who came across this cute owl flagged down police because they saw the little guy sitting on the side of the road. He may only have one eye and had gone through some kind of adventure to get to sitting on the road, but luckily the Hanover police reported that the owl "was provided a safe space, took a trip down to the station, and was then transported to a sanctuary." And the brave owl was in good sprits!

    Three cats rescued from a fire and adopted together

    It's always good when little families of cats are adopted together, and for these cats, who have gone through a really difficult time, being adopted together was the best thing that could have happened for them. Volunteers from all Rappahannock fire stations managed to rescue the mother and two daughters from the intense fire that burned the entire house down, as well as a few other animals who lived in it, and an amazing woman adopted all three cats together.

    Horse rescued from icy mud hole is recovering well

    Fysik, an 11-year-old retired jumping horse, sunk and got stuck up to his neck in a hole of freezing muddy water. Saving this horse was a job for many people, and the people showed up. Firefighters, the RCMP, some neighbors, a veterinarian and some other people who saw a post on Facebook about the horse came to the rescue and got the big boy to safety.

    Injured owl rescued by officers

    Officers Mark Knapp and Brian Collins rescued an injured owl who got stuck in a yard game. They reported in a tweet they worked to safely free the beautiful creature and moved it to the "Wellesley Animal Hospital for treatment".

    A wild animal's place is in the wild, we all know that, and we are all always ecstatic when a rescued animal gets released back into the wild. the pup who was named Sir Tom Moore was let go back into the wild "after being rescued from a near-death situation earlier this year."

    "A plane full of adopted puppies rescued from death in China's meat trade arrived last night in New York to meet their excited new owners," and that about sums up this absolutely amazing story. From evil to forever homes, and we are so so so happy for these little puppies who deserve the best and are about to get it.

    Two dogs who fell in a hole get rescued

    Two poor dogs ended up falling into a hole created by old mine workings, but Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team came to the rescue. They lowered themselves into the hole with "a body harness, connected to a rope system" and were able to rescue the two doggos - unharmed and now safe.

    60-day-old tiger cub found in temple and rescued

    The little cub, suspected to have been abandoned by its mother was "found stranded on the premises of the Mangala Devi temple on border with Tamil Nadu, inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR)." The cub's movement was monitored for 2 days before it was rescued and taken into a shelter where it was provided with the "special treatment and care" that it needed.

    He was found and rescued by the firefighters of the Orange County Fire Authority. In the beginning, the owl seemed to be entirely unable to move, exhausted, as the firefighters wrap it up in a yellow blanket.

    Parrot saves owner's from fire by calling owner's name

    We always tell you guys about stories of people saving animals, but sometimes, it's the animals who save us. This time, we're not even talking metaphorically about pets who save us by just being in our lives. No, in this case, a parrot literally saved its owner from a huge housefire. The fire was so bad, the entire house was burnt down, but thanks to Eric - the rescuer parrot - the owner is okay.
