Growing up, every kid swears they'll never be anything like their parents. All the annoying things parents do or say, all the bad dad jokes they make, and all the rules they enforce are things their kids would rather die than do themselves. You name it; if your parent does it, you'll want to do it differently. Because kids always know best, right? But somehow, the inevitable happens, and as we get older, we notice the oddly familiar patterns in our behavior. And somehow, slowly but surely, we start turning into our parents. It doesn't need to be a bad thing, many people have excellent parents. The only issue is that the characteristics and mannerisms that we inherit tend to be the negative ones… Or perhaps that's just what we've noticed. It's so infuriating, watching your parents doze off during a good movie. How could they miss such a showstopper?! I mean how hard is it to stay awake for two hours? But then, as you get older, and you get less and less sleep, you begin to understand.
