From grand romantic gestures to classic 3am "u up?" texts, there's no telling the lengths that some people will go in the pursuit of getting laid. There's a reason that sex is at the bottom of the Hierarchy of Needs, and it relates to the fact that there's an entire genre of memes out there dedicated to being horny. Now, they have a new entry which acknowledges how tryhard we can be in the talking stage.
'Me Tryna Hit' has emerged as a popular format on TikTok, with users miming to the sound of someone sobbing in response to an inconvenience that is being faced by the object of their affections. These range from the serious (like somebody's dog dying, as in the original video) to the completely inconsequential, but all are united in their mission to end up in somebody else's bed.
That being said, the format has come so far that it has expanded from the idea of getting some to a myriad of ways in which people ham up their emotions in return for something they want. Asking parents for money or wasting time at school or work are other variants of the craze. Ultimately, this meme has become popular because it strikes a balance: just about toxic enough to be funny, but not so much that it is genuinely offensive.
