Seven Things We're Thankful For Instead Of Airing Our Usual Complaints

    Our livers

First off, we'd like to thank our livers for being there for us this year. Actually, we'd like to thank them for being there for us every year. After all, there's always something to drink about, no matter what year it is. You'll even be depending on that good ol' liver at Thanksgiving dinner when your aunt and grandma attack you at the same time about being single yet again. Without our livers, our bodies wouldn't be able to handle all impromptu benders we go on, and we're thankful for our ability to keep on truckin'.

    Tall, skinny punk rock boys

We don't know what it is about 2021, but these kinds of boys are all the rage this year. Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly, and Pete Davidson managed to pull the hottest of Hollywood chicks. We can't put our finger on what exactly the appeal is. Maybe it's the height. Either way, we're also head over heels for these kinds of dudes. Here's to getting our own punk rock boys in 2022!

The ability to GTFO of our houses and see the world

This time last year, we were stuck in our homes, hiding from the scaries of the outside world. While the world has yet to fully heal,  flights are much more accessible. Because we've been locked up for so long, we appreciate travel so much more. All we really need to be happy in this life are cocktails at a resort in Mexico, mulled wine in a random European city, or a Budweiser at an all-American bar in a random state on the other side of the country. As long as our passports can actually get us somewhere, we'll be riding high up in the luxurious sky, and if the mood is right, perhaps even joining the Mile High Club. The sky is our oyster now.

Netflix’s neverending ‘coming of age’ content

Netflix blessed us with Season 3 of Sex Education in September and released Season 5 of Big Mouth in November. Although these shows give off completely different vibes (one's Brit, the other's American, one's a teen comedy with real-life actors, the other's a pre-teen cartoon comedy, one's about high school, the others about middle school), they both take us back to the days of our youth. Whether the shows cover our adolescent triumphs and defeats, the important thing is that they're nostalgic and funny AF at the same time. If you haven't yet enjoyed these gems, we recommend ushering in the Thanksgiving season with some binging.

Growing old but gold with the the pop culture that raised us

Both the Harry Potter and Princess Diaries franchises turned 20 this year. Let that sink in. While we're still struggling to come to terms with how old we are in relation to those franchises, we're still grateful we got to grow up with such incredible films. The kids today will never understand the bountiful blessings we received from the pop culture gods.

The feminine urge to romanticize everything

Spending all this time indoors has given us even more time to make shi*t up in our heads like the unabashed psychos we are. There's time for a hot cup of coffee and five whole minutes of yoga in the morning? you must be the main character of a novel. Sneaky link ghosted you? It's probably because he fell head over heels for you and didn't intend for it to go this far. Maybe it's a little delusional, but let's be honest - life wouldn't be as fun if we didn't romanticize it a little bit.

    And finally, carbs!

Much like our livers, we wouldn't have been able to make it through this year without carbs. Pizza and pasta are medicine for the body, the soul, and of course, our mental health. Cheers to all the carbs we're gonna consume on Thanksgiving!
