So when is our favorite pink starfish's birthday? Several online SpongeBob encyclopedias reveal that Patrick's birthday is some time in February. One even narrows down the year to 1978.

Patrick Has A Doctor Fetish
Patrick loves playing Doctor. Despite having no job, it may be that Patrick has aspirations to the medical profession. Patrick jumped at the opportunity to be the doctor to cure SpongeBob of his ailments. When SpongeBob gets a bad case of the Suds, Patrick prevents him from going to a real doctor where his sickness could have been easily cured.

The Eyebrow Debate
A subtle change occurred to Patrick's eyebrows between season 1 and season 2 of SpongeBob SquarePants. In the first season, his eyebrows were shaped like the letter M, though of course they were on their sides. Starting in season 2, his eyebrows became shaped like the letter Z. When his eyebrows were shaped like the letter M, they were more thinly drawn. When they made the change to look like Zs, they were drawn more thickly. This change does not amount to much, but it is interesting to see how our favorite pink starfish developed from the first season to the second.

Patrick is Cousins With Gary The Snail
Gary is SpongeBob's pet snail. In the same episode where we found out that Patrick was related to King Amoeba, we found out that Gary was also related to King Amoeba...which makes Patrick and Gary cousins. We couldn't believe it when we first found out about it. How could pet Gary be related to friend Patrick? Both Patrick and SpongeBob took in this information as if it were nothing. They just made some jokes about how now, Gary is king. If we had found out that we were related to a cat, were cousins with a cat, we would have had a mini panic attack.

Patrick's Got The Hots For Mermaids
Mermaids hold a special place in Patrick's heart. Patrick develops instant and intense crushes on mermaids when he first lays eyes on them. Mindy, is Patrick's top love interest. Mindy is the daughter of King Neptune. She is a kind and resourceful mermaid, and we approve of Patrick's crush on her.

Patrick Has A Degree
That's right. Patrick went to college. This is mentioned in the episode where SpongeBob has to deal with a bully at Boating School. In a panic, SpongeBob calls Patrick to help protect him, only to find out that Patrick was best buds with the bully at community college. That can mean only one thing: Patrick went to community college! His attention span is not the greatest, and his base intelligence is self-admittedly poor. But if there is one thing SpongeBob SquarePants is great at, it's presenting us with absurd notions that we laughingly accept.

Sweet Sand Furniture
Inconsistencies just seem to gravitate toward Patrick. First his nose, then his teeth, and now the layout of his house. We all know that Patrick lives under a rock, but exactly how it looks under there changes from episode to episode. Sometimes there is nothing but flat sand underneath the rock, not even a pit. Other times, Patrick seems to have rooms within his pit, like a kitchen and a living room. And his furniture changes. As we saw when Patrick was hurriedly trying to get his house presentable for his parents, he makes his own furniture. We have to imagine that Patrick creates the layout of his house every time that rock slams down. That's more creativity than we usually credit him for.

The Last Name Game
One of the neat things about SpongeBob SquarePants is that the cartoon characters in the the show (at least the main ones) have last names. This is not always the case in children's cartoon TV shows. We all know SpongeBob's last name, and we learn about Sandy Cheeks, Eugene Krabs, Squidward Tentacles, and even Sheldon Plankton. And we think we know that Patrick's last name is Star, but that turns out to not really be the case. It actually has changed in various episodes. The majority of the time he is Patrick Star, but sometimes he is called Patrick Seastar or he is called Patrick Starfish.

It's A No Brainer
Patrick being dumb has made him unique. The reason for this particular characteristic belonging to Patrick is biological. Starfish themselves do not have a brain, so a character based on a slow-moving starfish would not make sense if he was quick-witted. And as seen in the show, Patrick spends most of his time with his brain not properly connected.

The Nose Controversy
Patrick's nose, does he have one? Did he get one? Can he grow one? The answer to all of those questions is yes. Several times in several episodes, Patrick is seen with a single nostril defining the area where a nose should be. But another episode was devoted to the story of Patrick obtaining his first true nose. Does he already have one that we just can't see? Did he only truly have a nose during that one episode where he got a nose job? Or can he grow one on command? The nature of the show makes it so that all these circumstances can be valid. It is hard to understand, but not difficult to enjoy. -

Clones
During the episode where Patrick learns how to karate chop, we found out an astounding fact. Patrick, like a regular marine starfish, can regenerate from broken pieces of himself. When Patrick realizes that his karate-chopping arm is too powerful and unstoppable, he tears his arm off. Later, when he's hanging out with SpongeBob, another Patrick appears with his karate-chopping tendencies intact. Patrick then explains that not only can starfish grow back limbs, any small pieces torn off can make a whole new body for themselves.

Teeth?
Like his nose, the state of Patrick's teeth is a bit of a mystery. Sometimes he is seen with a full set of teeth, as seen by his charming smiles. Other times, when the show calls for him to be especially adorable, they will have him grin a single-toothed grin. And yet other times he is seen with absolutely no teeth at all. We all just flow with it and don't ask any questions.

Patrick Stars In The Fast And The Furious
One of the mainstays of the show is that SpongeBob cannot drive, no matter how much he tries to learn. He has attended Boating School since season 1, but to no avail. Patrick, clearly not as smart as SpongeBob, should be in the same boat. (Boat? Boating School? Get it?) But for some unexplained reason, Patrick is a better driver than SpongeBob. When SpongeBob desperately wanted to pass his Boating Test, he called on Patrick to help him during the exam. So either Patrick is a savant at driving, or he has been fooling us this entire time into thinking he's dumb.
