Redditors in the comments were quick to reassure OP that asking an interviewee for a tour of their room is not normal.

“Nononononono! I love this, but in order to do it right...'Look at my resume. Now, look at me. Now back to my resume. Now back to me. You're on a boat. Here are those reports you wanted. Those reports are now diamonds. I'm on a horse.'” replied u/4649onegaishimasu.

“I kinda wish the reply was 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours. I want to make sure that you fully represent your company's values.' Then proceed to ask to see every single part of their house before deciding the job want for them.” said u/bluwisdom.

“This is the correct response.” u/Addiixx agreed.

One redditor had a similar experience with an invasive employer that they shared in the comment section.

"No problem, just send that rent check my way and I'll give you full permission to view my private office" said u/Orange_Tang.

“Wish I said that” said OP.

“You still can!” replied u/DeepSeaGoblin. “If you have the spoons sending a follow-up email about how they were unprofessional and you want to rescind your application due to that will give them something to think about”

“Point out that you could have things in your room that identify your age, religion, and/or other things they are not legally allowed to ask about a person in an interview.” said u/Bobby_Marks2.

“I agree with this: what about medications that you could have on your desk?” said u/diva_done_did_it.

“Wait til you find out some online exam proctoring services require you to record around your room lol.” said u/yabukothestray.
