We have all heard that ridiculous claim that cats don't actually love their humans, that they don't really show us affection, we're just reading their mild tolerance of us love, and, as cat people, we know that all of these claims are total BS. Some cats are harder to win over, but with enough love and respect, even the most aloof cat will accept its human.
Cats show affection to their humans all the time in a million different ways. It's true that some of those ways are subtle, but sometimes, cats do something so heartwarming, it is impossible to read it in any way other than love. And these stories from our purrfect ICanHasCheezburger users showcase just that.
They always know when their owners don't feel right, we're sure of it. They won't always come to you when that happens. Cats are creatures who believe in independence and self-sustainment. But, the same way that they will sometimes snuggle up to you out of nowhere, needing affection, they understand that you need affection from them too.
We agree with this 100%. Whenever we hear of someone not getting along with their cat, it's most likely the case that they're not reading their cat's behavior correctly. Sometimes, there is trauma, not every cat will get along with every human. But for the most part, it's just a matter of finding the right way to make your cat gain your trust.
