Redditor u/SavagePlatanus posted to Reddit's popular moral judgment community r/AmITheAsshole to share this story of her mother-in-law's Christmas gift to her: a gluten-free cookbook. The problem is that she isn't the one that's gluten-free. Her husband is. It appears that the mother-in-law bought OP the gift based on what her husband recommended. That doesn't really make it a gift for OP, but a gift for her husband — but of course, it seems the expectation is that OP cooks and bakes all these gluten-free meals for her husband. It's really annoying for people to do something like this; give the gift to the actual person who wants it! At the very least gift it to both of them.
Scroll down for how this selfish dude tried to justify recommending the gift that was clearly meant for him. For more crazed in-laws stories, check out the MIL who refused to give up a key to her daughter-in-law's house — even after the couple had separated.
Evidently, OP's husband puts in minimal effort.
Oka, now we know he's officially clueless.
