We've all had those times when we tell someone something sarcastically or as a joke and they take it for the truth.
This husband, u/UncleCoyote, accidentally managed to convince his wife that "Jack Frost" is a serial killer with a dark and mysterious past who had a penchant for devouring people's noses. Like some sort of "Grimm's Fairy Tale". He promptly forgot about the joke, but she didn't. She had apparently been using it as her "go-to-fact during the holidays, and for the last 15 years has shared this dark and gruesome tidbit with anyone who would listen."
It's funny just to imagine the looks on those people's faces as she earnestly told them this "fun" fact about Jack Frost. I wonder how many of them believed it?
While we're on the subject of Jack Frost... I'd almost believe this tale myself. Does anyone else remember how terrifying that 1998 film "Jack Frost" was? My mother took me to theaters to see it when I was 6 years old and I was absolutely traumatized for weeks. It was advertised as a family "feel good" Christmas movie and it absolutely was not that. To this day the scene where he drives off the mountain and dies (spoiler alert) has been seared into my brain as some kind of core memory. I hate driving anywhere with a drop-off on the side and this scene also might be responsible for my general fear of heights. Screw that movie. Screw "Jack Frost".
For another hilarious TIFU check out this woman who thought her boyfriend was cheating on her... but it was actually his grandma.
