Sleep-talking is a phenomenon that affects about 5% of adults and, more often than not, is pretty damn funny. I personally never want to know if I fart in my sleep (if you're not conscious it doesn't count), but if I'm snuggled next to you while slumbering and I utter something wild, terrifying, or hilarious, I'd better hear about it when I wake up. There's something about the utterances of the unconscious that is far more fascinating than the details of whatever a person is actually dreaming about. The act even inspired one of the best bangers to grace the speakers of any 80's nights. It also turns out that the hilarity of most sleep-talking has the power to cheer a person up, as is evidenced by this heartfelt request from @MrEmilyHeller.
While sleep-talking stories may not actually turn a person's "shit day" into a non-shit day, they can certainly help distract a poor soul. And plenty of Twitter users were eager to help Emily Heller do just that. These particular anecdotes veer towards the nonsense side of humor, which is definitely preferable to my cousin unconscious yet astute wailing of "What about the next generation??? They're doomed."
