It all started when Onyx the cat somehow scaled a 50 ft tree, then realized he had no idea how to get down...

Font - My stupid idiot fuck cat is stuck 50ft up a tree. Fire department won't help. Police won't help. LA animal care won't answer the phone. Now the local crows/ravens are chastising him. How do I get him down?

Onyx's loving owner was worried sick, and turned to the internet for help.

Font - I have no idea how my cat made it so far up this tree, but he's been there for probably 5 hours minimum and doesn't seem to know how to get down. I've called everyone I can think of, and now the crows are circling and diving at him and likely scaring the shit out of him. I need this stupid moron back safe in my hands or I will lose my mind.

Font - I'm on Gayley Av & Strathmore PI, near UCLA. (UCLA maintenance cannot help.) Anyone know any service I can call? Someone with a cherry picker? An arborist who can climb the tree?

Font - jhope71 - 3 days ago I was able to coax mine down once with a laser pointer. He'd watch the dot and follow it down branches a little at a time til he could see the way to get all the way down. Maybe the birds will annoy him enough to come on down. I hope you can get him down soon!

Font - uiuctodd · 2 days ago I rescued a cat from a tree. It wasn't this high. We threw a rope on to a higher branch. Then we used the rope to raise a laundry basket up to the cat. He jumped in. We lowered him down. A few tricks we used: • Put a blanket in the basket so he could not see sky underneath. Put food on top of the blanket so he could not resist it. • Tied a second rope to the bottom of the basket to make it stable. The first time we sent it up, it was rejected for being too rickety.

Font - Update 4:53pm: he's still up there. Laser pointer didn't work. I've called and left messages for the small animal rescue team and 3 arborists. Nothing yet. I'm gonna try shaking his food bag to see what happens, maybe put some of his wet food in a bowl at the base of the tree. I'll keep ya'll updated. (West side animal shelter's phones are out and direct lines don't exist except through 311)

Font - 5:14pm: nothing yet. No calls, no updates, food hasn't worked. :( 5:31pm: I feel like I'm out of options. I may try posting on twitter to see what happens, but that feels like a last resort.

Human body - 6:17: my watch continues. 6:34pm: if I die here, let it be known that the los angeles fire department could have saved me but did not

Font - 6:53pm: I keep forgetting that laying on flat hard surfaces completely destroys my back. That is, until I was barely able to walk back to my place across the street. He cried the whole time I limped back. I'm now bedridden, with Onyx outside, alone high up a tree in the cold

Font - 7:36pm. No change that I'm aware of, but I'm lying in bed unable to move so. 8:32pn: No change. I think he's there for the night. 9:06pm: I think I have to call it a night. i can't see anything, I can only hear him, and it just breaks my heart.
