Font - Catowner7790 · 2d Join AITA for not wanting to pay unnecessary money for my cat? Asshole My sister and I (f33) have planned to take a trip to Yosemite National Park over spring break (when her kids get a week off of school). It's been on the books for a long time coming now, and will be the perfect way to celebrate the lifting of the mask mandate (which just happened in our county.) She is coming with her husband and family, and naturally I want my boyfriend (m27) to come along with me. H

Honestly, when we first saw the title of this, we did not think that what this woman was talking about was this. We thought somebody might be pressuring her to buy some expensive cat tree that she can't afford or something, not this. We wouldn't call taking care of your cat while on vacation an "unnecessary" expense.

Font - He argues that it's not safe to leave the cat outside for a week, that she might get bullied by raccoons or coyotes, but I've always done it this way and I've never had a problem. We even have a camera on our front porch so we can check in on her and make sure she eats every day. I don't want to spend extra money that doesn't need to be spent, but my boyfriend got mad and is threatening to stay home instead. I told him he would be ruining my long planned vacation, but he doesn't care. So

And we certainly don't think that letting your cat be outside for the whole week without supervision is acceptable. Maybe if the cat was at home and you got someone to come visit the cat once a day, that would be acceptable, but leaving the cat outside where it's dangerous? A-hole indeed.

Product - Temporary_Badger Supreme Court Jus.. 2d ... YTA. Just because you've always been an irresponsible and shitty pet owner doesn't mean your boyfriend needs to be cool with that. Leaving your cat outdoors for that long is absolutely awful. The entire idea of 'outdoor cats' has been proven over and over to be a bad one but your car isn't even used to that, she's usually indoors! 4 6.6k Q Reply +)

Font - luckyapples11 2d I didn't even read the whole thing it pissed me off. I have 3 cats. I would NEVER let them outside on purpose, especially for a whole week! Not only for fear of their safety and health from cars, animals, or people (i have a black cat) but also because I know they can cause damage to the environment. My girls have never brought back a dead animal (one is too dumb to catch one, the other is too scared of every little thing - the third I'm not sure about lol), but that does

Rectangle - Drakontus Asshole Enthusia. 2d ... You also shouldn't leave a cat alone for a week, even if it's just having someone drop by to check on it. Who knows what could happen to the cat if there is no one there to check up on it. Like what if it gets stuck somewhere and can't get out, or really badly hurts itself? OP isn't a responsible per owner. 1 854 Q Reply

Font - luckyapples11 2d Agreed. My cat snuck out once and came home limping the next morning. Spent $1600 on her surgery to remove 1/2 inch of her leg. I've mentioned in another comment that my dog knows how to unlock and the back door. Such a PITA. I open hate my girls going out. Plus with so many people in the house sometimes you just can't catch them with treats. A cat outside a whole week?! Nope. 4 357 Q Reply +)
