Maybe you've got some pretty good eyesight or a strong sense of smell, but I doubt it's anything compared to a dog. Even though our pets act a bit goofy sometimes, dogs are descended from wolves- an apex predator- and they still have an incredible genetic ability to sense things much more quickly and acutely than we can.
Don't believe me? Hasn't your dog ever realized a car was pulling into the driveway before you did? Has your dog ever run into the room when they smell a bag of treats being opened? What about creepy strangers out in public- has your dog ever alerted you that something might be wrong?
For one Redditor, that last example is almost too true. This week u/Robster_The_Lobster1 posted about their super friendly lab mix, who every once in a while gets a little spooked by strangers. The dog's owner is so glad their pet is always paying attention and created this thread on Reddit to see if other internet dogs do the same thing.
Comments poured in, with some pet owners agreeing with the post, and others realizing that their dogs could be bribed with a single piece of chicken. Still, this was an eye-opening thread with a lot of heartwarming and hilarious stories, and we think you're going to love it. See the rest below!
This was the original post from Reddit of u/Robster_The_Lobster expressing appreciation for their dog. The thread was titled "When my dog has beef, I believe him" and as you can see, the owner gave some pretty compelling examples for why someone should listen to their dog. In the rest of the thread, people posted examples of their dogs snapping in and out of protection mode, and at the end, I was only left with one question: "Where's the beef?"
Way back in 2010, there was a serious house fire about 55 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska, and a wonder dog named Buddy led emergency responders right to the scene of the fire. Dashcam video from the Alaska State Troopers shows Buddy valiantly bounding down winding back roads to find help and save his family's home, and he was rewarded with a big rawhide bone for his heroics after the fact! To be able to recognize the danger, find help, and lead emergency responders back home seems an almost Herculean task, but this dog sensed he was needed, and sprang right into action.
