How many ways are there to be a meme? It's a question that is perhaps even more controversial than the definition of the word "meme" itself. Some out there are real sticklers for the classic image with words combo; if it doesn't have some kind of bottom text, they aren't interested. Others might argue that any kind of viral post, information or event can become a kind of meme, or should be considered under the same category. Most other people, meanwhile, fall somewhere in the middle of this scale, depending on how funny or interesting they find a particular thing. The one factor that we can be certain of is that however we choose to categorize things as memes, there is more than enough material out there to judge. All of the items on this list fall pretty solidly under the traditional definition of memeing, although maybe there's one or two that seem more up for debate.
