Luckily, Rosey was not one of these instances. Instead, Henrico County, Virginia-based rescue and educational outreach group West End Cat Rescue (WECR) gave her a new chance at life in the big city and is working hard to find her a forever home.

Rosey was pregnant when she came under the care of WECR in April 2013. At just one-year-old, she mothered multiple kitties that were quickly adopted by energetic cat parents. However, no one showed interest in taking Rosey home.

Although she was timid at first, as time passed by, Rosey began to let her guard down and show off her personality. In the nine years since she's left the conditions of the municipal pound, the shy cat she once was is gone.

"Rosey loves attention," said WECR owner and founder Vicky. This mellowed-out cat becomes mesmerized by the love she gets and leading her to drool when she's happy.

Once she's comfortable, Rosey will coax others to play with her using those beautiful, inviting green eyes. One of her favorite activities is to get her short legs in motion to find a place is disappear for a good ol' game of hide-and-seek.

"Rosey knows how to hide, and you will never find her," Vicky illustrated. "She's very clever."

As she wags her short tail back and forth while Vicky or others that meet this sweet cat stroke her fuzzy coat, she's still hoping someone will provide her a forever home where she can be pampered by eager pet parents. Although mature cats have a better time acclimating to home life, have predictable personalities, and do not need consistent monitoring, many don't want to adopt an older cat.

The ideal home would be a setting where Rosey is an individual. Since she's a more mature kitty, she would do much better with pet parents that want to sit with Rosey and give her all the pets and rubs she can handle.

"Rosey gets along with other cats but not too many of them," Vicky explained.

Although Rosey has been a foster cat for most of her life, she's still received more love and attention than she could have hoped for when she was inside the animal shelter. Rosey may not have a forever home yet, but she has many who care for her, and she joins the 4,000 cats saved by Vicky and her volunteers.
