    That's A Longgg Work Day

Font - I 28F work 14 hour shifts at a hospital. I have been dating Chris was over a year now and as of 2 months ago, we started slowly working on getting a swing at the moving in together phase. He stays at my place quite often and only goes home usually one or two days a week. He works the morning shift, 8 hours, at a restaurant and because he gets out before grocery stores close (unlike me- I'm out at midnight) he has been helping me with grocery shopping so I can actually eat when I get home.

From the start to this story, it sounds quite like OP is pulling the heavier load in this relationship. Her job is more difficult, and they're mostly staying at her place. But, they've been finding equitable ways to get the housework done. Up until now that is. When an unexpected extra shift popped up, OP was left without her usual grocery load. And, when you read what happened next, you'll realize why this was so much of an issue.

    This Is A Tough One

Font - So I get home around 1:15am. He was up waiting for me, watching TV. His dog was on the couch beside him. I go and heat up my food and sat down on the arm chair and began eating. Well, his dog is a begger. So he was whining, looking at me the whole time I was eating and I kept telling him to go away. Not even 5 minutes later the dog jumps up and runs to the door and starts barking like someone is there. My BF and I just kind of look eachother before walking to the door together. As soon as

The boyfriend's right, the dog is a sneaky something or other, but that doesn't make this situation any less sucky. OP was hungry and plum exhausted. The least he could've done was try to show a little more sympathy, right? But, it also sounds like she could've been a little calmer, and realized that things go wrong all the time. We're excited to see what the commenters had to say about this one.

    Funny, But Not Funny

Font - Ok_Yesterday_6214 3 days ago Partassipant [4] NTA if we talk about this situation as in dog tricking humans it's funny, yes. But when it's real life and you haven't eaten the whole shift I feel for you. He could laugh but offer to order takeout or smth to compensate coz it's his untrained dog's fault. Instead he just asked you to admit it's funny. And I wouldn't eat the rice as well coz eating from the same bowl as dog is yack. 6.9k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

    Not An AH, But...

Font - n Ok-Acanthaceae5744 3 days ago Is she the AH for being upset, no. But what does kicking him out of the house at 1:15 a.m. accomplish? That is not an appropriate response to the situation, especially if you want a healthy and sustainable relationship. You are right, he should have offered to replace her meal, but it doesn't sound like she really even gave him an opportunity. She should have used her words and told him that she doesn't find it funny and that she hopes he will get her somet

    Hedgie Has OP's Back

Font - HedgieTwiggles 3 days ago Asshole Aficionado [10] NTA. Boyfriend needs to invest time in training his dog. He's able to laugh about it because he isn't hungry. At a minimum he needed to offer to go through a drive-thru and pick up some replacement food (if that's an option). 2.4k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

    A Valid Pet Peeve

Font - Bonecup 3 days ago edited 3 days ago NTA. I'm going to be biased though because badly trained dogs are a pet peeve of mine. His laziness is no excuse for you going hungry. And then he compounds it by doubling down on the fact that he didn't train his dog and you need to just get over it. Yes the idea of this is amusing, but the reality is he can't even train a dog and then laughs when you suffer the consequences. He is the one that trained this behavior either by giving into it or encoura

In Another Situation Being The Key Word

Font - alette_star 3 days ago ΝΤΑ In another situation, it would've been funny. But you were tired and hungry and overwhelmed, and instead of apologizing and offering to get you more food, he doubled down and tried to claim it wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal. You deserve an apology and i hope you got to enjoy a nice meal later, all to yourself 626 Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

    Way More Pissed

Font - Kindly Reward_8537 3 days ago Asshole Enthusiast [6] NTA. If I was in your situation, I'd have been pissed off too, and even more pissed off that he was laughing about it. Had it been a normal day, I'd have laughed too. But when you've worked long hours and are really hungry and exhausted, it's frustrating. Also, your bf needs to train his dog not to steal peoples food. 305 Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

    This Is The Right Answer

Font - Apatheticforcredit. 3 days ago Asshole Enthusiast [5] Damn his dog IS a sneaky little fucker though. Listen, you were both overwhelmed and eating at 1:15 AM. Crying because the majority of your food was stolen is completely understandable. Having him laugh was probably just the straw that broke the camels back. If he should have been kicked out or not is irrelevant; it was an emotional reaction. You both need to take a beat, and try to do some self care to level out your stress. It sounds
