This life, huh? Just when you think you've got one thing figured out, another complication comes up, and it's back to the drawing board all over again. We hate to say it, but that's why Reddit pages like Am I The Asshole draw us in so deeply. The posts here give us the opportunity to read about other people's problems, and to think about how we would deal with the situation if it was us in their shoes. Plus, for the more adventurous of us, we can comment on the posts and try to help people get by, and nothing feels better than that!
In this case, we stumbled on a post that a frustrated, hungry, and overwhelmed nurse made after a particularly late and frustrating night with her boyfriend. The two have been trying to figure out how to move in together, and how to live peacefully. And, up until recently, they'd been doing a pretty good job of it. But, on the night in question, OP had to pull a 14 hour shift at the hospital, and her boyfriend had to pull a double at his restaurant. He brought home food for both of them, but then his dog wound up getting into OP's plate. With nothing to eat, and no energy left, OP booted the boyfriend and his dog from the house. He had to drive a long way home, and OP had to figure out whether she was in the wrong or not for kicking him out. You'll see the whole story down below, but what's your read on the situation? Was she in the wrong?
From the start to this story, it sounds quite like OP is pulling the heavier load in this relationship. Her job is more difficult, and they're mostly staying at her place. But, they've been finding equitable ways to get the housework done. Up until now that is. When an unexpected extra shift popped up, OP was left without her usual grocery load. And, when you read what happened next, you'll realize why this was so much of an issue.
The boyfriend's right, the dog is a sneaky something or other, but that doesn't make this situation any less sucky. OP was hungry and plum exhausted. The least he could've done was try to show a little more sympathy, right? But, it also sounds like she could've been a little calmer, and realized that things go wrong all the time. We're excited to see what the commenters had to say about this one.
