When people say that cats are not friendly or don't like humans or don't really want anything to do with us… we are honestly so confused. Cats choose humans aaall the time. A hungry cat will decide that it's done with street life and straight-up decide that it's time to get adopted. All you need to do to win the affection of some of these cats is give them a little love once, and that's it- you're chosen.
Like the kitty in this story. Gave her a teeny bit of water, and she brought her whole family over for some love. We've seen it happen before. Once a cat trust you, there's no going back. Like when a human helped out a cat and she brought her babies to them for help, or when a stray cat chose a human and then brought said human her kittens. It just happens. And once you're chosen, you're chosen. The only thing you can really do is comply.
"I went out, ready for work, when I saw a small calico under my car. It's about 100°F with high humidity, so I turned around to go get water for her. I saw this little cutie just hanging out under the bush by my feet."
"Thankfully I had a big can of wet food for once. I figured it would help with hydration in this heat more than dry food.
Pretty friendly kitties."
"I used the food to lure them onto the front porch so they'd be safer and cooler.
Plan was to get friendly with them over the next day or so, so I could scoop em up and take them to our local shelter which helps with strays."
"When I got home I saw two more babies!
Creamy white kitten is all the way in the back. Gray striped and white is middle right, hugging the tree trunk and loplomg at the camera."
"Took the two wet cans I got at Lidle and put them out right off."
"These two are so skittish. I move too much and they hide. Unlike their sibling."
"Just sat there staring into my soul.
I put mire food out and checked the water. I'm gonna try to get them to the back yard bc that porch is safer for them. Then plan is same, to get them cleaned and vaccinated and all that so they can get homes.
If mama can't be taken in by shelter I'll see if they'll do a fix and release deal and I'll release her into my back yard where she can live if she chooses."
