Corgi Owner Blows Gasket When People Won't Stop Petting Her Dog

We were very, very young when our parents first taught us that you need to ask before petting a dog. It sounds like the most ordinary courtesy to pay to your neighbors, and has the added benefit of keeping everyone safe. But, some people just didn't grow up with any manners, and they still run around petting dogs willy nilly without asking all the time. That's what prompted this particular Reddit post this week, as a concerned dog owner turned to the Am I The A*****e subreddit to see if she was in the wrong with the way she responded to the latest instance of someone petting her dog without asking.

Apparently, since this person owns a corgi, they get a lot of extra attention. With those adorable little legs waddling about, it's easy to see why. Still, she was just trying to enjoy a day out with her family and out of nowhere someone decided to burst through a crowd, cut through multiple people, and then start petting the dog behind the owners back. Obviously, OP was upset, and she responded in kind. She snapped at the woman, and then got quite a snapping back after, which left her wondering if she was the one in the wrong in the situation. Thankfully, the loyal masses of Reddit were there to back her up and let her know that no, she was not the A-hole. It turns out, there are very few things that bother people on this online forum mores than people who don't respect the autonomy of other people's pets. If you can't respect the space and instructions that another pet owner asks from you, these people claim, you don't deserve a pet of your own. So, it's no surprise they came down on her side. We're Not Familiar With The Dog Grinch

From what we can tell so far, this woman's gripes are justified. It's not her fault that she has one of the cutest dog breeds out there, and people should respect her and her dog just as they would a Rottweiler or doberman. Still, it sounds like she's been dealing with tourists like this for a while, and it's not getting any easier.

We Love The Butt Wiggles

We can see how this might make it confusing for people to understand if the dog wants pets or not, but it's not their decision to make whether it's appropriate to pet the animal at that time or not. It should always be up to a pet's owner how much stimulus they are allowed to receive.
