Yesterday gave some terrible news to students and professional chillaxers alike: after more than 20,000 glorious hours, the "lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to" was taken off YouTube after a copyright strike.
For more than two years, the much-memed stream has provided auditory companionship to millions around the world, and is so beloved that some even use its comment section as a kind of studying support group. As a result, it's no surprise that upon hearing the news, Twitter users were bereft that the iconic beats were no longer a tap away from sending them into calm and focused bliss. What are they supposed to do now, listen to whale noises?
There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, though. YouTube eventually responded that that the claimant's takedown request had been abusive, and that the stream would be resumed in due course. At the time of writing, it's a matter of a waiting game.
