A lot of people say that their wedding is the most important moment of their life, but I think this may be a common misconception. In my opinion, there is no one most important moment. Maybe the rest of the marriage after is the most important? The decision to get married in the first place? Whatever it is, although weddings are beautiful, symbolic, and and important- if someone has to miss your wedding for an emergency, surely the bride and the groom can accept that. It's more important that someone is there for you throughout your marriage and through your life rather than just that one singular day.
I suppose we don't all see things the same way, though. In this Am I The A$$hole post, OP writes about how she left her twin sister's wedding because her son ended up being hospitalized. Instead of being understanding, OP's twin sister cursed her out for missing her big day and choosing her son over the wedding. Should OP have stayed at the wedding? Should OP's sister be more empathetic towards the situation? Could there have been some kind of compromise made here? Let us know what you think down below.
