"Apparently we're all just yassified versions of our dads": Daughters Everywhere Are Reminding Us How Genetics Work in This Viral Trend

Looking like your parents is usually a bit of a given when you're their biological child. When we're young, it's pretty much pounded into us from an early age that we have our parents's features. For example, when you're born and still look like an uncooked potato, people will still literally come up to your parents, who presumably look like human beings, and will say that your ET-looking, day-walking, newborn face looks “just like Daddy”. Big oof to Daddy in this case.

Once you're older, faces take shape in ways that are interesting and reinforce genetic code and family bonds in an obvious way. Lately there has been a trend on social media that follows the same principles but has produced eerily accurate results. Starting with a direct, well-lit photo of their face, they'll then make a point that they look nearly exactly like their fathers.

“Apparently we're all just yassified versions of our dads”

The point of the trend isn't just to prove that genetics is pretty cool. Genetics has, over the last several centuries, been proven time and time again, but this time with the modern TikTokian twist. For the trend, social media users everywhere have been filming a still of their face morphing into their fathers and the comments section is alight with people who are either dissing the obviousness of the trend or who are amazed by the paternal likeness. To be fair, some of the morphs are downright creepy how similar these people are looking. The gene pool is shallow in these families for sure.

Some of the girls honestly just look like younger versions of their dad living through an extremely convincing drag queen phase. YASS! Truthfully, they have a point here that goes beyond genetics. Some of these people look like legitimate twins of their father and it's unsettling at best. The two camps in the comment section remain the same: those that are shocked at the likeness and people that think “duh, you're related”. As far as the duh-people are concerned, it seems as though that camp is familiar with their entire family looking alike, which isn't always a given. They probably also resemble their parents in a creepy twin-like way.

So if you're not a hater in the comments and are actually flabbergasted at these familial similarities, that checks out too. For people who's family doesn't look like a carbon copy of the same person, some of these morphs are insane to think about. When one face melts into another, it's hard not to be impressed by genetics (without denying that it's obviously the cause of the similarities). Can't we all just feel a little sense of awe sometimes?
