'This is so tacky...enjoy your swamp hole': Deceptively dangerous fire-pit DIY fail gets roasted like s'mores by concerned commenters

Trampoline lovers…avert your eyes!

In this DIY, this person begins by cutting up their own in-ground backyard trampoline. Rest in pieces.

After slicing all the trampoline plastic off, he's left with a large pit with a ring around it. So many possibilities!

This DIY-er grabs a few sheets of fake grass, and spray paints it to cut it to the size of the massive pit.

So far, so good!

Up next, our buddy takes a trip to stock up on some cement tiles for the ring.

He arranges them aesthetically, things are looking good…

Now, he places in some furniture, and wraps the leftover trampoline frame with some string lights! Still going great!

The DIY guy adds in a fire pit, right on top of the cement squares. Then, he places in a cool TV that can turn sideways.

He added a large umbrella over the electronic to guard it from weather, perhaps.

It's looking like a real date-night spot.

The finished result looks gorgeous! It's glowing and cozy. Who wouldn't want this at their house?

I'm jealous of this backyard. This couple can climb down, have a seat, watch a movie, and cozy up by a roaring fire.

Now I know your immediate thought is, “Ok, so what's wrong with it? As long as you take the TV inside when it rains, what could possibly be wrong with this cozy mega-pit, other than the death of the trampoline, rest it's soul?"

Well the commenters are about to tell you, because they roasted this DIY-er's fire pit (all puns intended).

Lots of people were concerned about avoiding electrocution…I mean, there are a lot of electronics that would need to be rescued before a downpour.

Just think about the mosquitos he might attract with all that stagnant water. After all, how does he manage to drain this after every rain storm? How does it not turn into a giant bowl of mud soup?

Another commenter brings up the point that having a massive four foot deep hole in your backyard is not exactly conducive to safety.

The DIY-er could have easily added some stairs or a ladder. Much to consider!

Commenters left some more nit-picks, including the small detail that the fire could probably melt the faux grass underneath.

While the grass might be fire-retardant or designed to handle heat, it's just a weird choice to have around your fire pit. Who wants melty plastic grass stuck to their shoes?!

Oh, and just to top things off, the TV reflects the fire so much that it's hard to tell what's on the TV. So you're going to be blazing hot as the fire heats you up, AND you can't even watch the Great British Bake Off while you chill, because of the reflection. You're going to be eaten alive by mosquitos as the pit fills with water over time, and maybe you'll get electrocuted to boot. There you have it, that's basically all that's wrong with this poorly-thought-out backyard pit
