TikTokers are masters of deception. They make claims that are deceptive and foolish, and I won't stand for it any longer. The following story is one of these instances, and for you to understand it, some context is necessary.
This past Sunday, the Disney World ride Splash Mountain, as we know it today, closed. It is not going to get bulldozed, but rather, rethemed. The current version of the ride is based on a movie called Song of the South, which has some very dated content, particularly about race. Because of this, the movie hasn't been rereleased since the 1980s and has never, and probably will never, been released on DVD. That didn't stop Disney from using that movie as the basis for Splash Mountain, which opened in 1992. In 2020, Disney vowed to retheme the ride to feature characters from Princess and the Frog. The ride is shut down for the next year, and the rethemed attraction will open in 2024. Because of this, many people are mourning the current incarnation of the ride on social media, and some of this mourning is weirder than others.
