We've all heard the saying, "friendship isn't about who you've known the longest, it's about who came and never left your side." But what happens when a friendship is tested over something as trivial as a restaurant reservation?
A recent incident involving a woman and her "foodie" friend has shed light on the ugly truth about being a food enthusiast.
The woman took the situation to Am I the A$$hole, describing how she was bullied into giving up her reservation at a Michelin-star restaurant that she received as an annual bonus from her workplace. OP was thrilled when she received the reservation at the highly sought-after eatery and eagerly shared the news with her friend.
At first, OP considered taking her food blogger friend but rightfully felt uncomfortable leaving her boyfriend out of such an amazing experience.
However, to her surprise, her friend became aggressive and demanded OP give her the reservations she received as a gift from her employers. The reason? Her "foodie" friend claimed that the woman and her boyfriend wouldn't appreciate the fine dining as much as she would.
Feeling cornered, OP reluctantly gave up her reservation. This, of course, upset her boyfriend, who said she was "an idiot and a doormat".
Not that we condone name-calling here at Cheezcake, but we tend to agree that this level of doormat is a relationship dealbreaker. Not to mention how badly this will reflect on OP with her employers, who went out of their way to get her these coveted reservations.
After all, a Michelin-star dining experience may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but our self-respect and self-worth are priceless.
